Hope everything is going great with all of you.
I finally finished Foundation program and started Digital Design program in August 29.
So far it is AMAZING and it's much much much better than what I was expecting. My favorite classes are user experience, interactive design, information architecture, and motion design.
During the term1 we got our project brief for motion 1 class which you have to create a one minuet short film. I knew from the beginning I want to spend so much time on it. We all received 5 different scripts. I picked the script called creation that had only 4 words in it: preparation, incubation, illumination, and implementation.
First I started researching the words, what they meant, and how they were related and how they all work together. During the research process I randomly saw a picture of lady gaga coming out of an egg (from academy performance). It suddenly inspired the idea of having an angel born from an egg.
For this project it was important for me to challenge myself more than what the course required.
I wanted:
- Challenge and push myself.
- Use green screen (I learned in foundation but still had lack of knowledge about how to light so wanted to get that right)
- Learn basic Cinema 4 to create and animate the egg (I never had experiencein Cinema 4D but I assumed since I know basic Maya and with the help of online tutorials I can achieve it.)
- Great sound
So I started to brainstorm ideas based on the initial idea. so ended up with this story: An angel born from the egg and she flies away.
I started story boarding, and getting ready to film my first shot.My fist shot was a continuous tilting shot of a lamp and successfully filmed it with the help of few great classmates.
Then I started working on my 3D egg and it started to feel lot pressure because I couldn't figure out how to animate this egg and it became a real challenge.
It was 8 hours before filming my green screen and I decided to scratch the idea of the egg. Oh boy, the challenging was to come up with a different story within the first concept.
The egg was the key element in my story and didn't know what else to do. Finally came up with a new idea and filmed my green screen with the help of dear classmates.
I watched tutorials from video copilot and used few effects with their help!
I love this project because it did challenge me and had so much fun with it even though it's not close to what I had in mind in the first place.
